WHAT IS COLD LASER THERAPY?

Cold Laser is a non-invasive and safe treatment modality for supporting the natural healing process of the body. The photons of laser light penetrate the skin and are absorbed by the body’s cells causing increased production of cellular energy. When the cold laser light waves penetrate into the tissue, they optimize the immune responses of the blood system. This results in both anti-inflammatory effects and expedited healing times.

Cold Laser Therapy Treats:

-Acute and chronic pain                  -Fibromyalgia                           -TMJ

-Arthritis pain and inflammation       -Neck & Low Back Pain          -Tendinitis

- Muscle strains                              -Carpal Tunnel Syndrome         -Knee pain

-Hematomas                                   -Sciatica                                   -Tennis Elbow

......And many more!

Super Pulsed Laser (905nm) produces a high power level of impulse light at a billionth of a second. It is the high power during each pulse that drives the photons, or light energy, to the target tissue, up to 10—13cm (4—5 inches) deep.

How long does each treatment take?

Treatment duration usually lasts between 5-15 minutes depending on the size of the area and  condition being treated.

How often should the patient be treated?

Acute conditions may be treated daily, particularly if they are accompanied by significant pain. More chronic problems respond better when treatments are received 2-3 times per week tapering off to once a week or once every other week, with improvement.

How many treatments does it take?

Depending on the nature of the condition being treated, 1-6 treatments might suffice for some acute conditions. Those of a more chronic nature may require 10-15 treatments. Conditions such as severe arthritis may require ongoing periodic care to control pain.

COLD LASER ACUPUNCTURE

The Cold Laser Acupuncture attachment aims a beam of light from a laser onto a reflex point the same way you would with an acupuncture needle. The visible red laser beam stays on a point from between ten seconds to two minutes, the duration being dependent on the density of the tissue. When laser light is absorbed by a living tissue, it triggers biological reactions in the cells. As chemicals are released and carried by blood and lymph throughout the system, cold laser light can have wide systemic effects that can be divided into three categories:

Pain Reduction:

Laser acupuncture has proven to be highly effective in releasing myofascial pain syndrome and stimulating increased levels of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers.

Reducing Inflammation:

Following an acute injury, the body initiates a tissue repair process. Laser therapy reduces inflammation, bruising and pain while the body repairs itself. It also reduces inflammatory enzymes often seen in diseases such as Rheumatoid arthritis.

Accelerating Tissue Repair:

Laser acupuncture has been shown to accelerate the production of ATP, the chemical energy engine for the cell that speeds up its overall activity. This creates an increased rate of repair in cells responsible for repairing tissue, including bone, ligament, muscle, skin and nerves.
